After years of shutdowns and strict travel rules, on August 8th, 2022, Norwegian Cruise Line has become the first of the major cruise lines to update their health and safety protocols.
…for sailings beginning September 3, 2022, all travelers are invited to sail with us once again, regardless of vaccination status.NCL
This policy will go into effect across Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises for all sailings that commence on or after September 3, 2022. Requirements may differ for guests traveling on voyages departing from or visiting destinations with specific local regulations, including but not limited to Canada, Greece and Bermuda.
The restrictions have not been lifted completely. There are still some restrictions and not every cruise port will allow non vaccinated guests. Here are the details straight from the Norwegian Cruise Line website:
For sailings embarking September 3, 2022 and beyond
Guests age twelve and over will be allowed to board unvaccinated. Unvaccinated guests age twelve and over will be required to show proof of a medically supervised negative PCR or Antigen test taken no more than 72 hours prior to embarkation. For guests age 11 years or younger, no additional protocols or testing requirements apply.
Here is a list of Travel requirements by country
What does this mean for Royal Caribbean?
Does RCL have any plans to lift the vaccine requirement any time soon? As of yet, RCL has not made any changes to their vaccine requirement policy. Other major cruise lines such as Carnival and Princess are beginning to allow a percentage of unvaccinated guests to sail on their ships with medical exemptions. However RCL still choses not to make vaccination accommodations yet.
As soon as we hear about any changes, we will let you know.
