The Largest Cruise Ship in the World!

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line has done it again. Have you seen the concept art for the Icon of the Seas? 🤩 Incredible! This will now be the largest ship in the world!

June 2021 – Royal Caribbean marked the official start of construction for its first Icon Class ship at a steel-cutting ceremony in Turku, Finland. Set to introduce a new, revolutionary era of cruising, the state-of-the-art ship will be named Icon of the Seas and debut in fall 2023 as the cruise line’s first of three ships to be powered by LNG (liquefied natural gas).

The benefits of using liquefied natural gas (LNG) versus diesel for fuel are also clear: Natural gas burns significantly cleaner; produces lower emissions of sulfur, nitrogen and carbon dioxide into the atmosphere; and lacks the strong, distinguishing diesel odor.

The Sunset Suites on Icon of the Seas are a new take on broadening horizons. Vacationers can enjoy every day’s hues from inside or out while on their bed that faces the ocean and from their expansive balcony, including a wraparound balcony in the Sunset Corner Suite.

The Panoramic Ocean View suites and rooms on Icon of the Seas are among the best seats in the house. Vacationers can unwind at their home away from home with stunning perspectives of the sea, sky and destinations, thanks to wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling windows.

The new Family Infinite Balcony on Icon of the Seas welcomes families of up to six to make memories together and find “me time” all the same. The spacious room features a separate bunk alcove for kids, a split bathroom design and an infinite balcony – a living space that transforms into an extended open-air escape at the push of a button.

Vacationers can leave compromise at the door in the Surfside Family Suite on Icon of the Seas. The new room, nestled in the new Surfside family neighborhood, welcomes a family of up to four guests. There’s a cozy kids alcove, which transforms into a living space for all, along with a private balcony and Royal Suite Class perks.

The new, spacious Icon Loft on board Icon of the Seas is luxury across two floors. The floor-to-ceiling windows welcome up to four guests to take in panoramic ocean views, kick back in two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a private balcony, where vacationers can dine al fresco, and more.

In the reimagined Royal Promenade on Icon of the Seas, there is Royal Caribbean’s largest and boldest ice arena to date. Every seat is the best seat in the house in the new Absolute Zero, where cutting-edge technology and Olympic-level ice skaters merge to bring showstopping entertainment to life.

Living life on the edge takes new meaning with the brand-new Crown’s Edge on Icon of the Seas. Part skywalk, part ropes course and part thrill ride, the adrenaline-pumping experience culminates in a surprising moment that will see vacationers swing 154 feet above the ocean.

Central Park, one of Royal Caribbean’s most-loved experiences, is more lush and livelier than ever on Icon of the Seas. The open-air neighborhood with thousands of real plants welcomes vacationers to enjoy new and more ways to dine and be entertained with live music.

Tucked away on Icon of the Seas, The Hideaway combines the good vibes of beach club scenes around the world and uninterrupted ocean views. At the center of it all is the first suspended infinity pool at sea, and it’s surrounded by a multilevel terrace, whirlpools, a variety of seating and dedicated bar.

On Icon of the Seas, Swim & Tonic in the new Chill Island is Royal Caribbean’s first swim-up bar at sea. The vibrant spot is where vacationers can have a sip while they take a dip and sit back on the in-water loungers and tables.

A neighborhood made for young families, Surfside is where adults and kids ages six and under can stay and play all day on Icon of the Seas. There are three water experiences, including a pool for the grownups, and steps away are dining options, a bar, the signature carousel, an arcade, Adventure Ocean, and Social020 for teens.

Adventurers on Icon of the Seas are in for the ultimate thrill at the largest waterpark at sea, Category 6. Thrill Island’s six record-breaking slides reach new heights: Pressure Drop, the industry’s first open free-fall slide; Frightening Bolt, the tallest drop slide at sea; Storm Surge and Hurricane Hunter, the first family raft slides with four riders per raft; and Storm Chasers, cruising’s first mat-racing duo.

Perched at the top of Icon of the Seas, the new AquaDome is a transformational neighborhood. In a tranquil oasis by day, guests can take in wraparound ocean views and an awe-inspiring waterfall as they enjoy a bite or drink. By night, it becomes a vibrant hot spot, complete with restaurants, bars and the cruise line’s marquee aqua shows at the next-level AquaTheater.
